The Opportunity:
We're looking for a Team Lead Fire Assay to join our Refinery Laboratory on a permanent full-time basis, with an immediate start available. Reporting to the Supervisor Fire Assay, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on laboratory work with leading and supporting a small team.
As the link between the laboratory floor and leadership team, you'll help coordinate daily activities, manage changing priorities, support the team with technical guidance, and ensure work is delivered safely, accurately and on time. While this is a leadership role, it's also very much a hands-on position, with responsibility for carrying out fire assay and laboratory activities alongside the team.
You'll play an important role in keeping day to day operations running smoothly, supporting capability development, managing ad hoc tasks as they arise, and helping drive a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
About You:
You’re an experienced laboratory professional who enjoys leading by example. You hold, at a minimum, a Diploma of Laboratory Technology and bring previous laboratory experience, ideally within a commercial laboratory environment with exposure to fire assay processes. You’ll also have experience leading or supervising a small team.
You're organised, practical and approachable, with the ability to coordinate competing priorities while supporting those around you. You enjoy coaching others, solving problems and stepping in where needed to keep operations moving.
Most importantly, you're someone who can combine strong technical capability with natural leadership, building trust with the team while helping deliver high-quality results every day.
Our Benefits:
- Flexible work including purchased leave and leave at half pay
- Training and development opportunities
- Competitive salaries and employee discounts
- Charity and volunteer initiatives
- Health and wellness programs, including an Employee Assistance Program
- Salary sacrifice – superannuation contributions.
So go on, make your mark. If you are excited by this role and want to join the team at the iconic Perth Mint, apply today. Flexible arrangements will be considered on an individual basis.
Applications close on 14 September 2026. The Perth Mint reserves the right to close applications prior to this date.
Candidates must have the right to work in Australia and pass our national security check.
