The job responsibilities outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may evolve over time and be reviewed according to business needs.

ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Electronics Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the manufacturability of electronic assemblies throughout the product lifecycle, from concept through production and sustaining. Working closely with Electrical Design Engineering, the role ensures PCBAs are optimized for manufacturing, test, procurement, quality, reliability, and cost. As the technical authority for Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and Design for Procurement (DFP), the Electronics Manufacturing Engineer drives design decisions that enable efficient, repeatable, and scalable production while supporting hands-on resolution of complex manufacturing and product issues.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own the manufacturability of PCBA designs from concept through production and sustaining.
  • Lead DFM, DFT, and DFP reviews with Electrical Engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
  • Review and influence schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation to improve manufacturability, testability, reliability, and supply chain resilience.
  • Define manufacturing processes, assembly methods, tooling, and production documentation for electronic assemblies.
  • Support prototype builds, NPI, qualification, and production ramp, resolving design and manufacturing issues through practical, hands-on engineering.
  • Perform root cause analysis of manufacturing and field failures, driving effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Partner with PCB designers, hardware engineers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to improve yield, quality, cost, and production readiness.
  • Support engineering change management, ensuring manufacturability impacts are assessed and implemented throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Drive continuous improvement across electronics manufacturing processes, test coverage, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.

COMPETENCIES, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing engineering, PCBA manufacturing, or New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Proven experience applying DFM, DFT, and DFP principles to complex electronic products.
  • Strong understanding of SMT, THT, PCB assembly, electronics manufacturing processes, and production test methodologies.
  • Proficiency with ECAD tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent, with the ability to review schematics, PCB layouts, manufacturing outputs, and design documentation.
  • Strong working knowledge of IPC standards, including IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-J-STD-001, and PCB design standards such as IPC-2221/2222.
  • Ability to interpret and challenge PCB layouts, BOMs, Gerber/ODB++ files, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation to improve product manufacturability.
  • Practical, hands-on engineer with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working with PCB designers, hardware engineering teams, suppliers, and contract manufacturers in a high-reliability manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with PLM, ERP, and manufacturing systems is desirable.

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS / COMMENTS

  • Eligibility for ESA/EU/NATO/National SECRET personnel security clearances is essential. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a security clearance procedure, as this position may require holding such clearance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment, balancing technical depth with practical execution.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge designs and influence cross-functional engineering decisions.
  • Willingness to work at least 60% onsite from the office in Kockelscheuer (Luxembourg).
