Process Trainer

We are currently seeking a Process Trainer to join our Human Resources and Training team in a permanent full-time position at our Simberi Operation. Your work location is Simberi Island, working a 21/14 Roster from Kavieng, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, Mt Hagen, Madang, Goroka, Alotau, Wapenamanda, Popondetta, Hoskins, Wewak, Vanimo, or Tabar group of Islands. Reporting to the Training Superintendent, the Process Trainer is to lead the technical training and development of our Process Plant workforce. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality training programs, maintaining compliance requirements, developing workforce capability, and supporting safe and efficient plant operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring employees achieve and maintain competency while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the Processing Department.

The Opportunity

Technical Accountabilities

  • Comply with all site safety programs and initiatives, ensuring safety remains the highest priority and providing coaching in safe work practices.
  • Define training needs and deliver training to maintain compliance and ensure employees can safely achieve plant targets.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Process Operations Training Programs and systems across the Processing Department.
  • Deliver training to the broader workforce where cross-department competencies are required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure personnel remain current with relevant standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate training records and assessment evidence within the InTuition Training Management System within 24 hours of training completion.
  • Complete weekly training planning and reporting requirements.
  • Identify key areas for ongoing training and workforce development.
  • Develop company-specific training programs and materials.
  • Coordinate and support external trainers within the Process Plant area.
  • Provide support to the Process Maintenance Trainer when required.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards within the work area.
  • Complete other operational duties as required.

Scheduling Accountabilities

  • Plan and coordinate weekly training activities across rotating shift crews.
  • Ensure training compliance requirements are achieved within specified timeframes.
  • Schedule and facilitate training programs, assessments, and competency evaluations.
  • Coordinate external training providers and departmental stakeholders to ensure training delivery requirements are met.
  • Prepare and submit weekly training plans and reports.
  • Maintain current training records and documentation according to compliance requirements.

People Accountabilities

  • Train and coach employees using established training methodologies to achieve competency within their roles.
  • Identify skills gaps and implement appropriate development plans and remedial training.
  • Build positive working relationships with operational teams, supervisors, and management.
  • Support a culture of safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and learning.
  • Participate in training and development programs provided by the business.
  • Communicate effectively with employees from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the role.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Gold Process Operations or Metallurgical Operations, experience on flotation circuits highly desirable.
  • Significant experience as a Process Trainer within a mining or industrial training environment.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate training activities across multiple departments.
  • Proven ability to identify operator skill deficiencies and implement corrective training solutions.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • High level of personal motivation and commitment to performance excellence.
  • Strong commercial awareness relevant to mining operations.
  • Behaviour consistent with company values and standards.

Desirable

  • Certified Trainer qualification.
  • Two years' supervisory experience in a training environment.
