Research Assistant Professor

A Research Assistant Professor position is available at HKUST in the Department of Ocean Science. We are seeking an outstanding early-career scholar with a PhD degree in Marine Biology, Ecology, Ocean Science, or a closely related discipline.

The successful candidate should have strong communication and writing skills in English. He/She will work in state-of-the-art facilities with a multidisciplinary international team at HKUST and will be expected to conduct independent and collaborative research, mentor UG/PG students, manage research projects, and actively pursue research funding. (Duration: 2 years, renewable subject to performance and funding availability)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical, and dental coverage.

Qualifications

The applicant is expected to have:

  • A strong publication record and rich prior research experience in blue carbon or marine symbiosis;
  • Demonstrated ability in mentoring both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students;
  • Strong leadership experience in coordinating and managing research projects;
  • Potential to devise innovative research proposals and secure competitive research grants (e.g., RGC GRF).
