Summary of Role:
GlobalFoundries is seeking a skilled and motivated RF-Electronics repair technician to develop, implement, and support the electronic repair center (ERC) for Fab 8, in Malta, New York. This position is being developed to assist in productivity improvements for semiconductor equipment, which is accomplished by enabling higher equipment availability and a reduction in spending. This position is in the 300mm factory in Malta, New York. This is a normal schedule (5x2, Monday–Friday position), but will require flexibility across all shifts to obtain the results the fabricator requires. A successful Fab 8 Global Parts Solutions Technician is self-motivated and must work effectively in a team or individual situations; demonstrates flexibility regarding assignments, overtime, and work area.
Essential Responsibilities:
Advanced RF and Electronics Repair
Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and qualification of:
- RF Generators
- RF Matching Networks
- RF Power Delivery Systems
- RF Power Supplies
- DC Power Supplies
- Printed Circuit Boards (PCBAs)
- Motion Controllers
- Industrial Electronics Assemblies
Conduct component-level diagnostics using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector/network analyzers, RF power meters, digital multimeters, and other electronic test equipment
Perform root cause failure analysis and determine repair strategies for complex electronic assemblies
Develop and implement new repair pipelines for RF and electronic components
Create repair procedures, work instructions, job breakdown sheets, validation plans, and technical documentation
Establish testing methodologies and qualification criteria to ensure repaired components meet OEM performance requirements
Identify opportunities to reduce external repair costs through in-house repair development
Strong understanding of:
- RF fundamentals
- Analog and digital electronics
- Power electronics
- Communication interfaces
- Circuit schematic interpretation
- Component-level troubleshooting
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and develop long-term corrective actions.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs
- Maintain accurate repair records, test results, technical reports, and engineering documentation
Required Qualifications:
- Education – associate's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Military Electronics Training, Trade Certification, or equivalent experience
- Experience – Min of 4 years’ experience in electronics repair, semiconductor equipment maintenance, RF systems, or equivalent technical field
- Travel – Up to 10%
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a tightly coupled team
- Language Fluency – Fluent in English Language – both written & verbal
- Strong team player with ability to work well within a global team
- Physical Capacity Demands:
- Able to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements
- Able to wear all required clean room protective clothing and equipment
- Lifting to 40 pounds / bending / twisting
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience working in semiconductor manufacturing
Direct experience with:

- MKS RF Generators
- RF Matching Networks
- Plasma Power Systems
- Vacuum Equipment Electronics
Expected Salary Range
$58,400.00 - $100,800.00
