HWE Subsystem Technical Lead

A SSTL, often referred to as a Project Manager or Project Leader or Project Chief, is responsible for the overall successful execution of all tasks for product development for the program. A successful SSTL combines technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to deliver projects that meet objectives, meet TPC cost, and satisfy stakeholders.

These responsibilities include:

  1. Lead the HWE team to make commitments and to keep them. (on time, on budget, high quality, performance).
  2. Drive commitments from program team to closure.
  3. Coordinate the communication between HWE Organization and Program Team
    • Know if the project is on track or not.
    • Know what the issues/blocking points are.
    • Know the quality (GIMS).
    • Be responsible with supplier team for all Top Hat specific QCTP topics. DREs shall include you to design review (weekly or as needed) to discuss program issues and push for commitments.
  4. Partner with DRE, providing the brief about the program QCTP and monitor the development per milestone to calibrate the expectations and results.
  5. Project tracking: Provide info to other areas as needed.
  6. Plant Support: SSTL is main point of contact for plant builds/issues. Need to support for program expectations. Support the local plants in the event of SSTL who is not local.
  7. SSTLs are responsible to get any skill needed to be successful for the above expectations for themselves and their team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or Systems Engineering or an equivalent from an ABET accredited university.
  • 8 years of automotive experience.
  • 2 years Releasing experience in Electrical
  • Very positive attitude with ability to facilitate with cross-functional experience.
  • Highly motivated individual with a track record of "getting things done".
  • Self-starter who can work cross-functionally with other organizations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Good mentoring and coaching skills with ability to work directly with individuals and groups.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written and ability to communicate technical content to a non-technical audience.
  • Good project coordination skills.
  • Flexibility - must be able to adapt to changing environment with minimal effect on productivity.
