Wiring Systems Engineer

General Description:

The Wiring Systems Engineer is responsible for all aspects of wire harness schematics design. This includes wire and fuse sizing, harness architecture layout, implementation of CAN network layouts, product plan assessment, harness complexity creation, harness design optimization (VAVE / VO).

The Systems Engineer will design and validate the electrical systems and released components to ensure we meet all Stellantis electrical specifications in the vehicle and component environments. The systems engineer will support PWB and manufacturing facilities for the entire life cycle, manage the supplier systems engineering support team, manage large amounts of data, and be fluent working in corporate computer systems.

Main Activities:

  • Administer wire harness schematics design and changes for a vehicle lifecycle.
  • Determine wire harness architecture layout and implementation of CAN network layouts, based on Stellantis networking specifications.
  • Determine appropriate wire attributes for all wire harness circuits.
  • Determine appropriate fuse size and types based on electrical characteristics for all electrical components in the vehicle.
  • Create wire harness complexity based on product planning information
  • Generate harness design optimization (VAVE / VO) ideas.
  • Design and validate electrical systems and released components to ensure all Stellantis electrical specifications in the vehicle and component environments are met.
  • Assist wiring systems team with harness developments.
  • Ensure all design processes and specifications are followed.
  • Support wire harness and electrical system troubleshooting at test facilities and dealerships.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • BS in Mechatronics, Electrical, Automotive or related

  • 5 years of experience in Automotive industry and Product Development

  • Experience in Wiring design and release

  • Experience in DFMEA and DVP&R development and execution

  • Expertise in change management, vehicle specification and bill of material analysis

  • Good communication skills both written and spoken. Good English language

  • Conflict management skills

Preferred:

  • DFSS Green or Black Belt

  • Reactive Green belt or Shainin Journeyman
