ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Ruby on Rails Developer to design, build, and maintain backend APIs for an existing or new backend service, working with a strong focus on API design patterns, performance, scalability, and security. You will write clean, well-tested Rails code against PostgreSQL databases, participate in code reviews and technical discussions, and collaborate with stakeholders to define and fulfill API requirements. The role is remote with a required 4-hour overlap with MDT for LatAm candidates.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Design, develop, and maintain APIs using Ruby on Rails.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand API requirements and specifications.

• Ensure API performance, scalability, and security.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.

• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize API performance.

MUST HAVES

3+ years of experience working with Ruby on Rails .

• Strong command of API design patterns and best practices in Rails .

• Solid understanding of HTTP protocols and JSON data structures .

• Experience with relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL .

• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.

• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote setup.

• In terms of working hours : The role will mostly follow the LATAM time zone, with a required 4-hour overlap with Colorado (MDT) . For Ukraine-based candidates, a minimum of 2-hour overlap with MDT is required — though the more overlap, the better.

• Upper-intermediate English level.

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience with background job processing, e.g. Sidekiq.

• Familiarity with API documentation tools, e.g. Swagger/OpenAPI.

• Exposure to Docker or other container technologies.

• Experience working with distributed teams.
