Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Site Design Manager to lead data center design execution from inception through to site realization. You will ensure that site-specific designs satisfy rigorous reliability, availability, and sustainability requirements (PUE & WUE) while adhering to international standards, safety protocols, budgets, and aggressive deployment timelines.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Oversight: Manage the execution of multiple concurrent greenfield and fit-out projects across regional metropolitan hubs, ensuring alignment with budget and timeline targets.
Vendor & Framework Management: Create design briefs and key quality metrics to align a multidisciplinary consortium (including architects, town planners, C&S, MEP, LEED, and geotechnical consultants) with the project's core design intent.
Site & Construction Alignment: Travel to project sites to verify that construction methods, spatial coordination, and equipment deployment match design criteria, concurrent maintainability standards, and reliability benchmarks.
Key Deliverables
Due Diligence & Compliance: Lead site due diligence assessments and own the entire regulatory authority submission protocol to successfully secure occupancy permits.
Design Execution: Manage core, shell, and municipal service designs up to handover, including pre-customer contract planning and variation control.
Milestone Governance: Supervise consultants on critical milestones, quality of deliverables, and cross-disciplinary technical coordination.
Issue Resolution & Scaling: Act as the primary escalation point for stakeholders, ensuring the rapid resolution of construction issues and integrating lessons learned into future designs.
Resource Optimization: Strategically plan resources and introduce innovative proposals to accelerate design delivery and speed-to-market.
Candidate Requirements
Professional Experience: 10+ years of design consultancy experience, with a minimum of 5 years serving as a Principal Engineer.
Qualifications: Valid Professional Engineer or Registered Architect practicing certification is preferred.
Sector Expertise: Proven track record with regional metro designs; exposure to hyperscale data center projects is highly advantageous.
Project Frameworks: Thorough understanding of Design-Bid-Build, Design & Build, and alternative delivery methodologies.
Interpersonal & Language Skills: Stellar leadership and interpersonal skills. Professional working proficiency in English and Mandarin is required to coordinate with regional stakeholders.
