Fabricator Welder

  • Hynds Group
  • Pokeno, New Zealand
  • NZD 62,400 – NZD 79,040

Hynds is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Fabrication Welder to join our manufacturing team in Pokeno. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you'll fabricate large, high-specification production equipment to millimetre accuracy, working alongside our Mechanical Designer to improve and optimise designs. No two days look the same — one day you're building a new piece of production equipment, the next you're solving an engineering problem or improving how something performs.

If you take pride in a clean weld, a well-run workshop, and solving problems with your hands, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Assembling and fabricating high-specification production equipment for our manufacturing sites
  • Welding across Arc, MIG, TIG and stainless
  • Running the lathe, mill, press and other workshop equipment
  • Building solutions to engineering problems — and owning them until the job's done right
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Ordering materials, managing spares stock, and keeping a clean, safe workspace (5S)
  • Working between the workshop and our manufacturing sites when required

What You'll Bring

  • Certified Welder, proficient across Arc, MIG, TIG and stainless — ideally 3+ years' experience
  • Confident on a lathe, mill and press, and comfortable in a fitter's workshop
  • Full NZ Class 1 driver licence
  • Forklift experience in a workshop environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of industrial machinery, CAD, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems an advantage
  • Someone who knows how things work because you've pulled them apart — and puts them back together better

Benefits

  • Health insurance (subject to eligibility criteria)
  • Access to company partner discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme
