The Juneau International Airport is looking to fill one Equipment Operator II position!

This is the advanced journey level of the Equipment Operator job class series requiring at least (2) years of equipment operation experience. Positions in this class excavate, install, maintain, repair and conduct snow removal/ice control for airport facilities, aircraft maneuvering areas and roadways while operating specialized types of motorized maintenance and snow removal equipment and attachments.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION

This position involves shift work that includes days, nights, weekends, holidays, occasional overtime and being on-call. Additionally, this position also requires recalls to the airport for emergencies and weather events. The airport operates 24 hours per day year-round, and winter season staffing is 24/7. The winter operations schedule begins in late October and continues until March 31st.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The incumbent performs a combination of job functions that vary between the summer and winter seasons. Employees work under general supervision, execute specific instructions and are completely responsible for the safe operation of heavy maintenance and snow removal equipment. Employees must apply appropriate guidelines, such as safe equipment operating procedures, and established airfield standards for operations, maintenance and security.

Qualifications

Education: NONE

Experience:

Three (3) years of heavy equipment operations, maintenance, or construction experience.

AND

Demonstrated proficiency on a motor grader regardless of conditions or ability to achieve proficiency within three (3) months of appointment and for continued employment.

Substitution: Completion of a CBJ equipment operation-training program may substitute for one year of specialized experience. Certification of completion of training from other agencies will be considered for equivalency as a substitute for the CBJ training program.

Other:

Valid Class “A” Commercial Driver's License with Tanker (N) endorsement at time of application, however, must obtain valid Class “A” State of Alaska Commercial Driver's License with Tanker (N) endorsementby time of appointment if selected.

Must pass a TSA-required security check per 49 CFR 1542 and 1544 and Airport Security Program. This will require an FBI fingerprint criminal history records check. Continued employment is contingent on ability to maintain a favorable security check.

Certification as an ATSSA Flagger (or equivalent) within 6 months of appointment and for continued employment.

OSHA Requirements: This position may also require attendance at and certification (as available) in CPR, First Aid, and Confined Space Entrant and/or attendant within 18 months of appointment.

Special Note*Initial appointment to all FMCSA positions requiring a CDL will be made conditionally pending (1) receipt of verified negative results of pre-employment testing for controlled substances and (2) passing a 3-year drug & alcohol testing background check with previous DOT employers. Employees must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse and provide CBJ with paper and electronic consent for a full query of the driver’s Clearinghouse record.
