Behavioral Health Solutions is seeking an exceptional licensed Psychiatrist as our Regional Medical Director for the Nebraska and Kansas practice.

Job Summary

As the Regional Medical Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the psychiatric clinical programs in Nebraska and Kansas, and ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines. You will partner with and oversee a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and operational leaders. The successful candidate will handle a mix of clinical responsibilities, leadership, and training, as well as facility and staff management.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support advanced Psychiatric Practitioners through ongoing coaching, training, orientation, and clinical guidance to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Provide clinical oversight and supervision of Psychiatric Practitioners, including consultation on complex cases and coverage support as needed.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, assessments, and capacity determinations to diagnose and treat mental health conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and manage treatment plans, including prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications and evaluating patient progress.
  • Deliver patient and family education, counseling, and crisis intervention services to promote understanding, engagement, and effective management of behavioral health needs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams and facility partners to coordinate care, facilitate referrals, and ensure seamless integration of psychiatric services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with contracted facilities, ensuring exceptional service delivery, communication, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, professional, and organizational standards, including accurate documentation, quality improvement initiatives, mandatory reporting requirements, and continuing education obligations.

  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor Nurse Practitioners, providing guidance, training and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality mental health services.
  • Clinical Proficiency: Mastery of psychiatric nursing practice, including conducting assessments, formulating treatment plans, and prescribing medications for patients with mental health disorders.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills internally and externally, with the added ability to convey complex medical information to patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of collaborating closely with other mental health professionals and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimal treatment outcomes.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent critical thinking skills to assess complex psychiatric needs and care, and effectively manage challenging critical situations.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work independently while also fostering effective collaboration with fellow healthcare providers, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities as necessary.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Sensitivity to cultural and diversity issues in mental health care, with the ability to provide culturally responsive services and engage effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices in psychiatric nursing.
  • Use of Technology: Proficient in the use of a PC; in a Windows environment; in the use of the Internet; and in the use of MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficient in the use of EHR software systems, preferably Athena One.

Requirements

  • Completion of a residency training program in psychiatry
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Unrestricted licensure as a physician in the applicable state, including ability to prescribe controlled substances.
  • Licensed by the applicable State Board of Pharmacy in good standing to prescribe controlled substances.

Compensation Package

  • Starting at $300,000 and up annual base salary
  • Eligibility for BHS Annual Bonus Program
