Under the direction of the Director or Manager of the Project Management Office (PMO), the IT Project Manager I plans, coordinates, and manages multiple assigned information technology projects in accordance with established policies, procedures, and industry standards. This role is responsible for organizing project resources, managing project activities, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, budget, and quality expectations. The IT Project Manager I applies recognized project management methodologies to document requirements, evaluate solutions, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and support successful implementation and transition of IT solutions within a healthcare environment.
Essential Functions:
- Plans, manages, and oversees assigned IT projects from initiation through implementation and post-project review.
- Develops and maintains project documentation, including project charters, scope statements, work plans, schedules, budgets, risk logs, and status reports.
- Coordinates and facilitates project team meetings, ensuring alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables.
- Identifies project risks, issues, and dependencies, and proactively develops mitigation and resolution strategies.
- Applies change management principles to support successful adoption of project deliverables.
- Manages relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors, serving as a liaison between hospital departments and contracted personnel.
- Prepares and administers project budgets and monitors expenditures to ensure financial accountability.
- Ensures project deliverables meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and patient confidentiality expectations.
- Supports training planning and implementation related to new systems, processes, or technologies.
- Conducts post-project evaluations to assess outcomes, document lessons learned, and support continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Information Technology, or other related field.
- Bachelor’s degree with two years or more experience in project management.
- Years of experience may be used in place of education at 2 years of experience for 1 year of education.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of PMI, ITIL, and other industry-standard project management frameworks, tools, and best practices.
- Ability to analyze business needs, define problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend effective technical and process solutions.
- Skill in communicating clearly and effectively with diverse stakeholders, including leadership, clinical staff, technical teams, and external vendors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Skill in preparing, managing, and monitoring project budgets, resource utilization, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Ability to lead project teams, manage group dynamics, facilitate collaboration, and guide teams toward successful project outcomes.
