MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To lead and manage the midwifery/nursing team in the provision of patient-centric and evidence based nursing care, operational efficiency and positive patient experiences

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  1. To provide strong leadership and management guidance to the team
  2. To ensure evidence based patient care practices are followed as per clinical standards
  3. To ensure positive patient experiences by developing employees and creating an environment that enables team engagement
  4. To manage allocated clinical and non-clinical resources in a cost efficient and effective manner to enhance safe patient care
  5. To monitor and manage compliance with legislative, regulatory and clinical standards to ensure continuous quality improvement
  6. To lead obstetric emergency preparedness and response across the unit, ensuring the team is drilled, competent and ready to manage clinical emergencies at any time
  7. To plan and manage capacity, staffing and patient flow proactively in response to growing unit activity, escalating and adapting resourcing as demand changes

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Essential: Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Midwifery

Desired: Master of Science in Midwifery/Nursing or related Healthcare field

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Essential: At least 3-5 years’ senior nursing experience, preferably in a private hospital

Desired: 5-10 years senior midwifery experience, including experience managing a high-volume Labour and Delivery service

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Demonstrate the ability to implement all five (5) stages of the Scientific Nursing Process (assessment, planning, nursing diagnosis, implementation and evaluation)
  • Presentation Skills
  • UAE Labour Law
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Cost management principles
  • Demonstrate Nursing functional competence (Nursing practice)
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage meetings effectively
  • Quality management and governance standards and best practice
  • Risk management principles, systems and best practice
  • Skilled in the demonstration and assessment of all relevant clinical procedures
  • Stock control principles and management
  • UAE healthcare regulatory framework and related requirements
  • Workforce planning and scheduling
