Here's what you'll do during a typical day:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform carpentry tasks including construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of furniture, fixtures, and structures such as doors, windows, and partitions.
  • Inspect and assess the need for repairs on various woodworks and structures, and execute timely maintenance or replacement.
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to prioritize carpentry tasks and ensure the smooth operation of the hotel’s facilities.
  • Maintain an inventory of supplies, tools, and materials needed for carpentry work. Order new supplies as necessary while adhering to the budget.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance work performed and materials used.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project specifications and requirements.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood and wood substitutes.
  • Implement custom design solutions to enhance the functionality and appearance of the hotel’s interior and exterior spaces.
  • Ensure all carpentry work complies with safety standards and building codes.
  • Stay current with the latest carpentry techniques and materials to improve efficiency and outcomes.
  • Discuss your knowledge of different wood types, their properties, and suitability for specific projects, as well as familiarity with other materials like adhesives, finishes, and hardware.

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.

  • Proven experience and expertise in carpentry, including a thorough understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
