Job Description & Summary
Our clients depend on expert advice when navigating tax and succession, that’s where your leadership matters most. Your expertise will help shape confident futures for privately owned businesses and families, navigating complex tax and succession challenges. As a Director, you’ll play a vital role in providing tailored tax advisory and planning services that support clients throughout their business lifecycle. You’ll be working with clients across private businesses, family offices, entrepreneurs, and start-ups.
Why PwC?
At PwC Australia, your skills meet purpose. We tackle big challenges across industries like finance, technology, energy, and health, giving you the chance to make a real impact. Here, your growth is our priority. You’ll work with leading teams, explore new technologies, and unlock your full potential.
Join a global community of more than 370,000 people who value bold ideas, collaboration, and lasting change. Together, we’re building trust and shaping the future.
That philosophy is brought to life in our Family Office Tax practice. Long‑term advice. Complex family groups. Decisions that span generations.
Family Office tax is not about volume‑driven work or short‑term engagements. It’s about trusted enduring relationships with families who own and control significant private wealth and businesses, and guiding them through complexity, change, and generational transition.
As a Director in PwC’s Family Office Tax team, you’ll be a senior adviser to some of Australia’s most sophisticated private families. You’ll lead complex engagements, shape long‑term client strategy, and work closely with Partners to grow PwC’s Family Office capability and market presence.
This is tax leadership with context, continuity, and consequences.
What Family Office Tax Actually Looks Like
You’ll operate at the highest level of complex private groups, advising across:
Highly complex private group and trust tax matters, including large multi‑trust and multi‑entity structures, with a focus on technical risk, governance and long‑term sustainability
Advanced trust taxation and distribution strategies, including:
Income and capital streaming at scale
Section 100A risk assessment and mitigation
Trustee powers, present entitlement issues and trust integrity considerations
Family‑owned business and investment group structuring, advising on:
Whole‑of‑group structuring across operating, holding and investment entities
Division 7A strategy, remediation and governance frameworks
Managing private group integrity and ATO focus areas
Capital gains tax and transaction leadership, including:
Business sales, succession‑driven exits and partial divestments
Small business CGT concessions
Complex restructures, rollovers and group reorganisations (including Divisions 615, 122‑A and 124‑M)
Intergenerational wealth, succession and governance planning, working closely with legal, private advisory and family governance specialists on:
Ownership and control transitions
Family governance frameworks and decision‑making structures
Balancing tax outcomes, risk management and family dynamics
ATO engagement and tax governance leadership, including:
Leading ATO audits, reviews and risk reviews
Managing private ruling strategies and high‑level technical submissions
Advising families navigating heightened regulatory, reputational and public scrutiny
What Makes Family Office Work Different
The relationships are generational: You advise families over decades, not transactions.
Judgement and leadership matter: Deep technical expertise must be paired with commercial insight and emotional intelligence.
The structures are deeply interconnected: Trusts, companies, investments, and operating businesses function as a single ecosystem.
The impact is lasting: Your advice influences legacy, stewardship, and long‑term wealth outcomes.
This is where tax leadership becomes true trusted advisory.
Your Role as a Director

Contribute to market profile, thought leadership and growth of PwC’s Family Office offering
Support Partner group initiatives and play an active role in shaping the future direction of PwC Private
What We Are Looking For
Extensive experience in family office private tax, business or corporate tax at a senior leadership level
Deep expertise advising complex private groups, trusts and family‑owned businesses
