In the Kitchen Assistant role, you will take ownership of your designated work area and play an integral role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. This includes preparing and baking food in accordance with established recipes, maintaining high standards of food presentation, and contributing to the smooth delivery of meal service.

Hours & Roster Details:

• Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time
• Hours: Average 12.5 hours per week
• Shift Time: 07:30am-1:30pm
• Roster Pattern: 2 days on, 4 days off on a 6-week roster period (Monday-Sunday)

The purpose of this job

Bupa Glenburn Care Home is located in a quiet pocket of New Lynn, Auckland. The home offers rest home, hospital, dementia, and specialist dementia (psychogeriatric) care.

As a Kitchen Assistant you will:

• Assist with food preparation
• Undertake General kitchen duties (dishwashing and cleaning)
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of a busy kitchen team
• Adhere to Hygiene and food safety standards
• Maintain confidentiality
• Follow Health and Safety procedures

What you’ll need to make it possible

• Preferably 1 year experience in a similar role, but full training and development will be provided
• Have experience following established recipes and preparing food to a high standard.
• Be a proactive team player who can work independently and pitch in where needed
• Possess strong attention to detail and commitment to quality presentation
• Excellent time management & communication skills, following instruction accurately
• Empathetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about making a positive difference for residents
• Available to work rotating rostered shifts, including weekends
• Reliable transport and travel arrangements
• Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand
