Benmax is seeking a HSEQ Manager to join our team in Queanbeyan, NSW, working closely with the Service team to lead health, safety, environment and quality outcomes across the division.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how to translate WHS and environmental requirements into practical, site-ready systems, and who genuinely enjoys developing people. You'll lead a team of HSEQ Coordinators, support our integrated management system, and act as the go-to technical voice on all things HSEQ.

Reporting to the Head of HSEQ & Compliance, you'll be based at our Queanbeyan office and work closely with the Benmax Service team day to day. It's a chance to shape how HSEQ is delivered across a growing division, backed by an experienced leadership team.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and developing our HSEQ Coordinators, including workload planning and performance conversations
  • Supporting the integrated management system and internal/external audits, including closing out findings
  • Overseeing hazard and incident reporting, investigation and root cause analysis
  • Reporting HSEQ performance and trends to the leadership team
  • Monitoring changes to WHS and environmental legislation and Australian Standards
  • Delivering HSEQ inductions and training for staff, apprentices and subcontractors
  • Reviewing subcontractor HSEQ documentation and site performance
  • Preparing HSEQ content for tenders and client prequalification
  • Managing environmental obligations and emergency response planning on projects
  • Maintaining plant, equipment, chemical and licence registers

What we're looking for

  • Diploma of Work Health and Safety or higher, white card and current driver's licence (essential)
  • Minimum five years' experience as a senior HSEQ advisor or HSEQ manager
  • Sound knowledge of the WHS Act and Regulations in NSW and the ACT
  • Understanding of AS/NZS ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 in a certified integrated management system
  • Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis and supporting external audits
  • Practical understanding of construction risk, including heights, confined spaces, electrical and hot works
  • Confidence delivering training and presenting to groups
  • Team leadership experience is highly regarded

Tertiary qualifications in Training and Assessment or Leadership Management and internal auditor training are all desirable but not essential.
