The National Redress Scheme and the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme are entering their final stages, and there is urgent work to do. About the role

We are looking for Social workers, Counsellors and Psychologists who want to use their trauma informed crisis and wellbeing support skills in a role with real purpose. In this 12-month fixed-term position, you will support people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse and Stolen Generations survivors to navigate sensitive, complex and deeply personal legal issues with care, respect and dignity.

Duties include:

• Providing short-term trauma-informed support and therapeutic interventions with clients through telephone and face to face services in a supportive, timely and effective manner. This includes in person appointments with clients accessing services from a correctional centre across Australia.
• Providing discipline-specific case consultation support to co-workers within and external to Knowmore for the purposes of supporting the wellbeing of clients and minimising the impacts of engagement with the service.
• Accurately recording client activity and administrative information according to organisational and standards in a timely manner.
• Providing informal debriefing and situational support to co-workers as required to enhance awareness of wellbeing within a trauma-informed organisational framework.
• Contributing to and participating in all internal meetings including office meetings, discipline- specific team meetings, all of-staff meetings and others as identified.
• Monitoring own self-care and engage with Knowmore leaders in supporting and enhancing wellbeing and resilience.

What we are looking for:

• You hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling
• You have 5 years + relevant experience
• Previous experience working in trauma-informed, multidisciplinary services and teams
• Previous experience in providing culturally safe services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
• Strong teamwork & client engagement skills
• Commitment to self-care and reflective practice and supervision
