As Electrical Supervisor, you’ll play a pivotal role in keeping our resort operating safely, efficiently and to the exceptional standards expected at InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef.

From routine maintenance such as lighting repairs through to diagnosing complex faults within distribution boards and associated equipment, you’ll bring strong technical expertise, sound judgement and a proactive approach to every challenge.

This is a hands-on leadership role where your attention to detail, professionalism and pride in your work will directly contribute to the smooth operation of our resort and the experience for our guests.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and coordinate the Electrical team, allocating daily tasks and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems, equipment, distribution boards and resort infrastructure.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance, repairs, testing and tagging, and respond to after-hours emergencies when required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure electrical standards, codes and legislation are followed.
  • Manage electrical stock, tools and supplies, ensuring resources are available when needed.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Hotel Operations, contractors and other trades to minimise disruption to guests and resort operations.
  • Support team development through training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Assist with rosters, timecards and labour management in line with operational requirements and budgets.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, cleanliness, professionalism and continuous improvement.
  • Deliver friendly, professional service to our guests and colleagues.

Base rate $47.12 + penalties + loading + supervisor allowance + superannuation

To be successful in this full-time role, you’ll have:

  • A current Queensland Electrical Licence and relevant electrical trade qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical maintenance, fault finding and repairs.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience, ideally within a hotel, resort, commercial or facilities environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian electrical standards, legislation and workplace safety requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational and communication skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with a strong eye for detail and commitment to high standards.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams and remain calm under pressure.
  • A genuine passion for developing people and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • A professional presentation and positive, can-do attitude aligned with InterContinental's values.
  • Flexibility to support weekends, on-call coverage and after-hours requirements when needed.
