About the Role:

We have a new opportunity for a Strategic Planning Manager to lead planning, governance, workforce strategy and transformation activity across a complex Defence program environment.

Working closely with senior leaders, Defence stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, you will provide strategic oversight of key programs, drive reform initiatives and strengthen the frameworks that support delivery of GWEO’s Defence capability outcomes.

This is a senior opportunity to influence long-term outcomes, shape business improvement and support meaningful Defence capability delivery.

What you’ll be involved with:

  • Leading strategic planning activity to support key project and capability outcomes.
  • Providing advice and recommendations to senior Defence and industry stakeholders.
  • Building trusted relationships across Defence, industry and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Establishing governance, reporting and performance frameworks to support delivery.
  • Monitoring performance, risk, opportunities and benefits realisation.
  • Leading workforce planning and forecasting, including capability gaps and resource needs.
  • Driving reform, transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting improved operating models, governance practices and pilot programs.
  • Leading and developing a high-performing team.
  • Promoting a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace culture.

What we would like from you:

  • Experience leading complex programs, projects or business functions in a Defence environment.
  • Strong experience in strategic planning, governance, workforce planning or transformation.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build effective relationships.
  • Experience developing executive briefings, reporting and recommendations.
  • Commercial awareness, with exposure to contract management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability.
  • Leadership experience, including leading teams and change initiatives.
  • Australian Citizenship with a current or recently suspended NV1 security clearance.
