How you will make contributions that matter

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team at our Specialty Cheese facility in Burnie, Tasmania.

Working across a structured rotating shift roster, you’ll undertake preventative and reactive maintenance, fault finding and equipment improvements to support plant reliability and minimise production downtime.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking proactive, preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across the site.
• Diagnosing faults and responding to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Mechanical fitting, machining and repairs across production equipment.
• Welding and fabrication, including TIG welding on stainless steel.
• Supporting plant upgrades, installations and continuous improvement activities.
• Working safely and collaboratively with the broader maintenance and production teams.

About you

• Trade qualified in Mechanical Fitting, Fitting & Machining or a similar mechanical trade, with strong 4th-year apprentices also to be considered.
• Previous maintenance experience within dairy, food, FMCG or manufacturing will be highly regarded.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills and the ability to work confidently and autonomously.
• Experience with pneumatics is highly desirable, with hydraulic knowledge also advantageous.
• TIG welding experience would be highly regarded.
• Comfortable working a structured rotating roster that includes days, nights and weekends.

We’ll support you with

• A structured 6-week rotating roster, with two weekends worked across the six-week cycle and additional overtime opportunities available.
• Ongoing training and development, including additional licences and tickets where required.
• The opportunity to join an established and experienced multi-trade maintenance team.
