Casual Restaurant & Bar Attendant – ROAK Penola

The Royal Oak Penola, better known as ROAK, is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Casual Restaurant & Bar Attendant to join our team.

Located on the main street of Penola in the heart of the Coonawarra wine region, ROAK is a historic country pub known for its warm hospitality, award-winning dining and relaxed atmosphere.

Our seasonal menus showcase quality local produce, complemented by an excellent selection of Coonawarra and South Australian wines. With a welcoming restaurant, bar, beer garden, accommodation and strong connection to the local community, ROAK offers an authentic regional hospitality experience.

The Role

As a Casual Restaurant & Bar Attendant, you will work across our restaurant and bar, helping create a welcoming experience for every guest.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing friendly and professional food and beverage service;
Taking customer orders and operating the point-of-sale system;
Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages;
Setting and clearing tables and maintaining presentation standards;
Assisting with restaurant bookings, functions and special events;
Handling cash and electronic payments accurately;
Maintaining clean, organised and well-stocked service areas;
Following responsible service of alcohol, food safety and workplace safety requirements;
Assisting in the gaming room where appropriately qualified; and
Working collaboratively with the kitchen and wider venue team during busy service periods.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

Previous experience in a restaurant, bar, pub or similar hospitality environment;
A current RSA certificate;
A friendly, confident and customer-focused approach;
Strong communication and teamwork skills;
The ability to remain calm and organised during busy periods;
A reliable, practical and hands-on attitude; and
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Previous gaming experience and current gaming qualifications are highly desirable, but not essential for the right candidate.
