Senior Mining Engineer

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to join our team at Tarrawonga Mine, located approximately 45km north of Gunnedah, NSW. Tarrawonga is a small but operationally complex open cut mine, producing up to 3.5mtpa.

Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, you will lead the development and delivery of short to mid term plans and schedules, from one week to five years. With one direct report, you will play a key role in optimising mine performance whilst ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

This opportunity is ideally suited to a commercially astute Mining Engineer who thrives in a complex operating environment. You will have the ability to evaluate multiple planning scenarios, identify opportunities and develop practical, cost-effective solutions that maximise business outcomes.

This is a site-based role working a 9-day fortnight. Applicants must be based in the Gunnedah region or be willing to relocate, with relocation assistance provided.

What You’ll Do
• Provide technical support to mine operations, enabling the site to provide an increasingly safe and reliable operation
• Supervise and provide mentoring to mining engineers, ensuring their outputs align with long term plans and overarching business goals
• Lead the analysis and reporting of mining production data across the site
• Identify areas of technical and business improvement to increase productivity and reduce mining costs
• Ensure production budget is met by effective planning, scheduling and coordination of activities relating to the mining fleet

What You’ll Bring
• 5+ years post graduate experience as a Mining Engineer within an open cut operation
• Highly developed skills in mine design, scheduling and planning
• Experience with Vulcan and Spry advantageous
• Excellent communication and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
