Job Description
About the role
We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation. Working closely with both the Financial Reporting and Finance Transactional Services teams, you will contribute to the delivery of accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and efficient transactional accounting services.
This is a hands-on role that offers exposure across a broad range of accounting activities, including the preparation and lodgment of financial returns, management of balance sheet reconciliations and financial ledgers, and support of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. You will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with relevant standards and requirements.
Qualifications
About you
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in a Transactional team environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and GST compliance according to ATO guidelines.
- Experience in complex general ledger reconciliations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset on maintaining accuracy and integrity of accounts and complete the tasks independently.
- Well-developed knowledge and understanding of computerized accounting systems as well as Microsoft Office/Windows environment.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, treasury instructions, accounting principles and practices applicable to the position.
- Well-developed numerical and literacy skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work individually and in a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to establish business relationships with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and time-management skills.
- Customer-focused mindset and approach to work.
