Reporting Manager Title: Delivery Director, Civil Structural

Worley currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to join our Perth team. You will bring civil engineering expertise to Worley and its customers, contributing to, and managing, a portfolio of projects across multiple major customers in the resources (mining and minerals) and energy sectors. Your skills will include strong technical design experience, as well as team leadership across high complexity multi discipline projects.

This position is based in our Perth office with flexible working from home options available.

What you'll do

  • Lead a team of civil engineers and designers to deliver discipline specific engineering services that satisfy Worley, its clients and meet applicable statutory and regulatory requirements on time and within budget.
  • Ensure the production of high-quality technical deliverables produced by both you and the team (including access roads, construction pads, bulk and detailed earthworks associated with new pipelines, as well as general mining support and infrastructure development)
  • Provide technical support, supervision and advice to the discipline team and the wider project teams who may be situated both locally and remotely in our global offices
  • Manage resource allocation of the civils team across multiple portfolios, to ensure effective utilisation and delivery by proactively liaising with the portfolio and contract leadership to anticipate resource requirements
  • Cross-disciplinary coordination to support successful delivery of customer requirements
  • Promotion of workshare between global Worley offices
  • Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its customers' requirements.
  • Support effective communication within the civil engineering team and project stakeholders, including customers.
  • Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
  • Technical supervision, mentorship and development of junior engineers
  • Perform tasks such as:
    • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow Worley management system processes and procedures
    • Clarify and effectively manage project scope and raise changes in line with project change management processes;
    • Gather data from multiple sources and prepare engineering studies, analyses and calculations. Support the technical development of solutions and recommendations, and create final documentation for project deliverables.
    • Perform review/detailed checking on work completed by both local and workshare offices.
    • Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
    • Provide input to proposals in preparing hours estimates, clarifications and bid documentation
    • Participate in and champion technical stewardship and assurance activities within the civil team, including technical peer reviews, investigations and compliance checks.

About You

  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering or relevant degree
  • 15+ years' experience in civil engineering design in the mining, energy and/or infrastructure sector
  • Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its customers.
  • Strong understanding of how civil designers perform their duties using 3D modelling and drafting packages.
  • Proven experience in successfully leading teams delivering projects under tight schedules is essential
  • Lean delivery mindset
  • Sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards, as well as statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Exposure to developing civil design across a range of project cycles using Australian Standards
