The intern will assist experienced technicians, the Workshop Supervisor, Repair Manager, and Project Managers in daily repair activities, technical documentation flow, reporting, and final documentation compilation. The position does not independently approve work, release documentation, or perform unsupervised critical activities.

Safety, HSEQ, and Compliance

  • Treat health, safety, environmental compliance, and product quality as first priorities in all workshop and documentation activities.
  • Work in accordance with NOV policies, procedures, the NOV Code of Business Conduct and Ethical Standards, and applicable local statutory rules and regulations.
  • Follow relevant Management System requirements, work instructions, inspection criteria, and equipment operation guidelines.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, daily team meetings, and safety discussions; raise concerns promptly and stop work when a potentially hazardous situation is identified.
  • Report non-conformities, undesired events, defects, discrepancies, and unsafe conditions according to existing quality and HSEQ procedures.
  1. Mechanical Repair and Workshop Support

  • Assist experienced technicians with assembly, fitting, disassembly, inspection, rework, and repair of equipment within the NOV Rig product line.
  • Learn to read and interpret basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, job routes, and assembly/repair procedures.
  • Support the inspection of materials, products, and equipment for defects using gauges, visual checks, and measuring tools under supervision.
  • Assist in reworking or repairing equipment in line with engineering changes, specifications, and approved instructions.
  • Help maintain production quality and quantity by following approved standards, procedures, route times, and work priorities.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and support 5S principles, inventory discipline, and tool control.
  • Support timely completion of required workshop procedures, checklists, inspection records, and repair paperwork.
  • Be open to travel and additional duties when required by the business and approved by the relevant supervisor.
  1. Document Control and Project Documentation Support

  • Assist the Repair Management Team with controlled documentation for repair projects and related operational activities.
  • Register, track, and distribute incoming and outgoing technical documentation to and from clients, suppliers, third parties, and internal stakeholders according to procedures.
  • Create and follow workflows for internal and external review comments on technical documentation.
  • Support preparation of project-specific document control procedures and supplier document submission requirements, based on contractual and internal requirements.
  • Assist with importing and maintaining the Master Document Register (MDR) at project start-up based on input from Project Managers.
  • Compile, check, and organize final documentation packages according to external and internal requirements under Project Manager supervision.
  • Prepare document reports and help follow up project documentation progress, overdue actions, and submission status.
  • Participate in project meetings and kick-off meetings when required, capturing relevant documentation actions and follow-ups.
  1. Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Problem Solving

  • Accurately describe and document findings during quality investigations to support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Assist the Workshop Supervisor and Repair Management Team in identifying, documenting, and eliminating non-conformance issues.
  • Support proactive problem-solving using methods such as Fishbone diagrams and structured brainstorming.
  • Contribute ideas for improving assembly, repair, document flow, quality control, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Assist with implementation of new techniques, equipment, or process improvements as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strive to support key performance indicators related to safety, quality, cost, delivery, and documentation accuracy.

Education

  • Student in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program, diploma, or vocational/technical education with relevant content in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, maintenance, repair, quality, documentation, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant practical experience, technical training, or strong demonstrated aptitude may be considered as an alternative to the preferred educational background.

Experience

  • No previous document control or mechanical repair experience is required; this role is intended for learning and development.
  • Any exposure to workshops, mechanical repair, manufacturing, maintenance, quality control, engineering documentation, MS Office, or project administration is beneficial.

Skills and Competencies

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and ability to learn document control systems, registers, and reporting tools.
  • Good written and oral English; ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, technicians, Project Managers, clients, suppliers, and third parties when required.
  • Technical aptitude and willingness to learn drawings, procedures, measuring tools, repair methods, and documentation standards.
  • Organized, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to maintain accurate records while supporting practical workshop tasks.
