We are seeking an Assistant Housekeeping Manager to join our dynamic team and play a key role in supporting the Housekeeping function within our organisation. Role Overview:
The Assistant Housekeeping Manager supports the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing daily housekeeping operations to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, service, and efficiency. Supervises, trains, and evaluates team members including Residence Managers, Room Attendants, Housemen, Public Area Attendants, Seamstresses, and Inventory Clerks. Ensures that all procedures are executed in accordance with company standards while delivering an Exceptional Memorable Experience (EME) for all guests.
Main Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of housekeeping staff across all areas.
- Train, coach, and mentor team members to ensure adherence to service and cleanliness standards.
- Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, and timekeeping; document absences and arrange coverage.
- Conduct performance evaluations and assist with disciplinary processes.
- Motivate and guide team members to achieve departmental goals and productivity targets.
Operational Planning & Coordination
- Prepare and distribute daily assignment sheets and set work priorities.
- Assign keys, equipment, and communication devices, ensuring proper tracking and security.
- Maintain awareness of occupancy levels, VIP arrivals, group bookings, and special events.
- Adjust staffing and assignments based on operational needs.
- Prepare and review rosters for operational requirements
- Assist in monthly inventories.
Inspection & Quality Control
- Inspect guest rooms, corridors, public areas, service areas, and facilities using established checklists.
- Ensure all areas meet cleanliness, presentation, and operational standards.
- Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective action is taken promptly.
- Monitor equipment condition and ensure proper usage and maintenance.
Guest Experience
- Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction by anticipating needs and resolving complaints effectively.
- Respond to guest requests promptly and ensure follow-up to completion.
- Support service recovery efforts to enhance guest experience.
Maintenance & Facilities Coordination
- Report maintenance issues and coordinate with Engineering for timely resolution.
- Submit work orders and follow up on urgent repairs.
- Ensure all maintenance concerns are tracked and resolved efficiently.
Administrative & Reporting Duties
- Maintain departmental logs and documentation accurately.
- Complete daily reports, shift handovers, and operational updates.
- Review assignment completion and communicate outstanding tasks to management.
Training & Development
- Assist in coordinating staff training, retraining, and development programs.
- Ensure all team members are trained in procedures, safety standards, and service expectations.
- Identify skill gaps and implement corrective training initiatives.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, fire, and hygiene regulations.
- Enforce departmental policies and procedures consistently.
- Promote safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
Operational Support
- Assist team members with duties when required to maintain service standards.
- Support overall housekeeping operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Additional Duties
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Secondary school education or equivalent
Certification or diploma in Hospitality Management or related field (preferred)
Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in housekeeping operations
At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
Experience in a hotel or resort environment preferred
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent organizational and planning abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Problem-solving and decision-making capability
Ability to train, coach, and develop staff
High attention to detail and quality standards
Knowledge of housekeeping operations, standards, and procedures
Understanding of cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and equipment use
Familiarity with property management systems and operational reporting
Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene regulations
Desired Qualities:
- Certification or diploma in Hospitality Management or related field (preferred)
- Experience in a luxury hotel or resort environment
- Experience managing large teams or multi-area operations
- Familiarity with performance metrics and quality audits
