Company

Imec performs world-leading research in nano-electronics. Imec leverages its scientific knowledge with the innovative power of its global partnerships in ICT, healthcare and energy. Imec delivers industry-relevant technology solutions. In a unique high-tech environment, its international top talent is committed to providing the building blocks for a better life in a sustainable society. Over 5000 expert scientists from over 95 countries shape tomorrow’s world with their research which is typically 5 to 10 years ahead of the market. Imec is headquartered in Leuven (Belgium) and has offices in the Netherlands, Taiwan, US, China, Japan and India.

The Imec RF/mmWave and High-Speed ADC group in Leuven enjoys a world-class reputation in advanced high speed ADC and in millimeter-wave (mm-wave) RF Designs. In these fields our expertise is in the design of record-breaking high sampling rate ADCs and integrated RF/mm-wave front-ends in advanced CMOS and III-V based technologies. The design group also performs research in the fields of circuit design for advanced (optical) wireline communication, future RF technologies, mm-Wave sensing for life sciences, and mm-Wave imaging.

The circuit design group is technically mentored by Piet Wambacq and Jan Craninckx and has an established state-of-the-art research reputation that has been confirmed over the years by our extensive presence in top conferences in solid-state circuit design, such as ISSCC, RFIC, ESSCIRC, VLSI and CICC.

As an independent research center, we collaborate closely with top players in both industry and academia, giving our people continuous exposure to both the latest evolutions in industrial challenges and approaches, as well as into the newest emerging academic ideas and paradigms.

What you will do

We are looking for an experienced IC design researcher who can participate actively in the innovation and design of advanced RF/mm-wave and high speed (Gs/s) integrated circuits in the most advanced CMOS and IIIV technologies.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Research and design of innovative high-speed, low-power RF and analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits in advanced CMOS and IIIV technologies.
  • Drive the bottom-up evolution of these integrated circuits considering the evolution of scaling.
  • Together with the team, bring new ideas and new technical innovations based on your solid technical experience.
  • Take part in technical interactions with external partners and towards new prospects.
  • Publish your state-of-the-art research results in international conferences or journals.

What we do for you

We offer you the opportunity to join one of the world’s premier research centers in nanotechnology at its headquarters in Leuven, Belgium. With your talent, passion and expertise, you’ll become part of a team that makes the impossible possible. Together, we shape the technology that will determine the society of tomorrow.

  • You have experience designing in IIIV technologies.
  • You have a profound understanding of transistor-level circuits.
  • Experience in state-of-the-art high-speed analog/RF circuit design is a strong plus.
  • You are familiar with the various steps and tools in the design and layout of high performant analog and mixed signal circuits
  • You have solid understanding of solid-state devices, analog/RF circuits, up to the system architecture.
  • You have a broad interest in circuit design and are willing to contribute to multiple high speed analog circuit research domains
  • You can work independently yet in close collaboration with experts from other technical fields.
  • You have excellent reporting skills and can present technical results and choices clearly and concisely.
