OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE

As a Commis , you are an entry-level kitchen team member who supports the Chef de Partie and Demi Chef de Partie in daily food preparation and service.

You will be responsible for assisting in basic food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations while developing your culinary skills in a structured and professional environment.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

1 Kitchen Operations

. Assist in basic food preparation and mise en place

. Follow instructions from senior chefs accurately

. Prepare ingredients as directed (washing, chopping, portioning, etc.)

. Support food production during service periods

. Always maintain cleanliness of workstations

2 Team Supervision

. Work under the supervision of Demi Chef de Partie and Chef de Partie

. Assist in daily kitchen tasks as assigned

. Support smooth workflow within the section

. Communicate clearly with team members

. Participating in basic training and development

3 Food Safety & Hygiene

. Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures

. Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work areas

. Ensure proper food storage and handling practices

. Always follow HACCP standards

. Report any safety or hygiene issues immediately

4 Inventory & Cost Control

. Assist in receiving and storing ingredients

. Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) stock rotation system

. Minimize waste through correct handling and preparation

. Support basic stock organization tasks

. Report damaged or missing items

5 Menu Execution & Development Support

. Assist in preparing dishes according to recipes and standards

. Support plating and basic cooking tasks under supervision

. Learning menu items and kitchen procedures

. Follow portion control instructions

Qualifications

·

No formal qualification required; culinary certificate is an advantage

·

Fluet Arabic and English speaker (other languages preferred but not essential)

Experience

·

Entry-level role; previous kitchen or catering experience is an advantage

·

Passion for cooking and willingness to learn
