Position Summary
Mechanical Design Engineer: Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.
- Designs mechanical assemblies, parts, and systems for the products of the Company
- Creates parts and assemblies using 3D CAD software; uses previous experience and knowledge to weight function, cost, and manufacturability
- Creates mechanical drawings, Bill of Materials information, and other documentation for product release
- Evaluates prototype products and designs for possible refinement through assembly and test
- Applies creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems, determining objectives and requirements, organizing projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities
- Interact and collaborate with cross-functional across a wide range of experience levels
- May determine approach on new assignments and my operate as a team lead
Qualifications
- Must have extensive knowledge of theory, principles, and procedures of Mechanical Engineering
- Demonstrates effective and efficient leadership skills
- Understanding of 3D CAD systems, preferably SolidWorks
- Familiarity with Bill of Materials and manufacturing processes; drafting experience or training required
- Knowledge of ECO release process using Agile or other equivalent PLM application
- Familiarity with basic shop equipment and hand tools used in assembly of prototypes
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
