Project Accountant

The preparation and reporting of project cost budgets, and the tracking, management and reporting of project expenditure to enable robust control of projects throughout their lifecycle.

Responsible for the development of project budgets, the tracking of actual and forecasted costs and the generation of cost reports, ensuring they are prepared to the required level of detail and accuracy and in accordance with contractual requirements and Wood policies, procedures and standards.

Responsible for identifying areas of best practice and driving continuous improvement within the business by driving better processes and controls.

  • To monitor and control cost commitments and expenditures throughout.
  • Liase with procurement, finance, and time-capture functions, and third parties as required to ensure accurate capture of procument, materials, subcontract and labour manhour costs. Ensure costs are allocated accurately in accordance with approved project WBS, and accrue for any missing but incurred costs.
  • Manage the project/assignment work approval process in terms of accurate cost allocation first time and initial budget set-up and approvals.
  • Liase with project management, project planning and others as required to ensure accuracy in project cost and revenue phasings and forecasting, and recognition of revenue in like with IFRS16
  • Participate in cost & estimate risk analysis for financial impact if required
  • Assisting with external, internal and client auditors
  • Responsible for compliance with the Financial management Framework within the individual’s sphere of control
  • Execution of various and ad hoc financial analysis and tasks when required

Preference will be given to qualified Brunei Nationals.

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in relevant disciplines

Knowledge, skills and experience:
• Minimum 5 years work experience cost experience, prior experience in senior cost role preferred
• Excellent knowledge of cost software and related principles, tools and techniques including budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow
• Good commercial knowlege
• Advanced ability to develop project cost budgets and change estimates
• Strong understanding of earned value application, cost and schedule variance analyses/trending and what-if scenarios
• Strong understanding of Cost Management, Change Control, Planning & its financial implications
• Good systems experience (in Excel, Oracle, Imperium)
