Project Overview:

Mining and Metals:

Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team and interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the engineering technical aspects for complex projects. You will participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget.

Major Responsibilities:

• Responsible for multiple small projects or designated medium to large sized complex engineering assignments (program) within a global business unit
• Possesses full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments
• Reviews major changes or deviations in project scope, project material quantities, budget or schedule, and assists particularly
• with defining the change, obtaining accurate estimates of the hours involved, and recommending budget adjustment
• Ensures engineering efforts with Project Manager, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) and Project Controls
• Directs the preparation of project reports, forecasts, special engineering reports and plant data book

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience.
• Prior experience in engineering leadership during construction, resident engineering, field engineering, or equivalent site-based project execution is required

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering management for complex EPC/EPCM projects, including scope, budget, schedule, quantities, risk, change control, constructability, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project controls interfaces.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary resident or field engineering teams and coordinating technical support between the field office, home office, client, contractors, construction, and startup organizations.
• Strong working knowledge of field engineering processes and deliverables, including RFIs, field change documents, nonconformance reports, design clarifications, redlines, as-built documentation, and technical resolution during construction.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, codes, standards, contracts, and project procedures, and to make sound technical decisions while maintaining safety, quality, environmental, scope, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to develop personnel and operate effectively in a multicultural, matrix organization.
