Project Overview:

Yanacocha Water Treatment Plant (WTP):

Located 800 km northeast of Lima, Peru, Yanacocha is South America’s largest gold mine. The WTP Project consists of two of the largest acid water treatment plants in South America (the West one with capacity of 3,000 m3/hour and the East one with 2,700 m3/hour). Early works are currently being performed on site, preparing the permanent platforms and laydown areas for the East and West plants, in addition to the Class 2 estimate, Level 3 schedule and Execution Plan.

Job Summary:

The Electrical Designer is responsible for developing, coordinating, and reviewing electrical design deliverables for EPC/EPCM projects. This role produces detailed engineering drawings, 3D models, material take-offs (MTOs), and design documentation while ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.

Key responsibilities include preparing electrical deliverables such as single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, cable routing plans, grounding and bonding systems, lighting and lightning protection designs, installation details, and underground raceway layouts. The position requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams, proactive resolution of design issues, and support for project execution through high-quality, constructible, and cost-effective design solutions.

The Electrical Designer is expected to work with a high degree of autonomy, perform quality reviews, and ensure the timely and accurate completion of assigned deliverables.

Major Responsibilities:

• Planning, coordinating, and reviewing electrical design and drafting activities for EPC/EPCM projects, including assignments in support of global business units (GBU).
• Developing and overseeing electrical design deliverables, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
• Coordinating multidisciplinary design interfaces and supporting clash detection and resolution activities.
• Preparing and reviewing electrical drawings, 3D models, material take-offs (MTOs), design estimates, and work plans.Interfacing with engineers, designers, clients, and suppliers to support project execution and technical alignment.
• Facilitating technical discussions and resolving complex design issues through sound engineering judgment.
• Monitoring progress, quality, and performance of assigned design work to ensure timely delivery within project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Supporting the development and maintenance of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides, standards, work processes, Bechtel Standard Application Systems (BSAPs), and administrative practices.
• Reviewing and approving key technical deliverables, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Coordinating with client representatives to address comments and obtain design approvals.Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior and intermediate designers, promoting professional growth and best practices.
• Supporting engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure safe, practical, and constructible design solutions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Essential) Proven experience in the development, modification, checking, and finalization of Electrical As-Built drawings for EPC/EPCM projects, preferably in large-scale mining.
• (Essential) Experience in field engineering activities for large mining projects, including site surveys, field verification, walkdowns, review of installed conditions, and coordination with Construction and Commissioning teams.
• (Essential) Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation for the development and updating of engineering and As-Built drawings.
• (Essential) Experience using SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) and SmartSketch by Hexagon for electrical engineering and As-Built documentation.
• (Essential) Strong knowledge of electrical design and drafting practices, engineering drawing standards, applicable codes, design criteria, and discipline-specific procedures.
• (Essential) Ability to interpret electrical drawings and documentation, including SLDs, electrical layouts, grounding drawings, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, equipment layouts, and lighting drawings.
• (Essential) Experience incorporating field mark-ups, redlines, RFIs, technical queries, design changes, vendor information, and construction/commissioning records into final As-Built documentation.
• (Essential) Ability to identify and reconcile discrepancies between engineering documentation and actual field conditions, coordinating their resolution with the relevant disciplines.
• Knowledge of As-Built document control practices, including revision management, drawing status, document numbering, change descriptions, and traceability of changes.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Construction, Commissioning, and Document Control teams.
• Experience supporting engineering closeout and handover activities, including As-Built completion, final document reviews, punch-list closure, and turnover documentation.
• Experience in the preparation and verification of Material Take-Off (MTO) quantities and material lists.
• Familiarity with engineering document management systems such as Aconex or equivalent EDMS platforms.
• Familiarity with 3D model review and coordination tools such as Navisworks or equivalent.
• (Desirable) Intermediate level of English proficiency, both written and verbal.
