Project Overview:
Mining and Metals:
Increasing production of critical minerals provides key components of clean energy technologies, from wind turbines to batteries. This shift to clean energy—and the need for commodities—is critical to underpinning the energy transition. At Bechtel, our teams extract these vital resources to support net zero in a way which is more sustainable than ever before.
Job Summary:
The Area Expeditor supports on-time delivery of project materials by monitoring and expediting supplier and sub-supplier activities from engineering through fabrication, inspection, and shipment. The role conducts on-site visits to verify progress against purchase order and project requirements, identifies schedule and quality risks, drives timely corrective actions in coordination with the Project Expediter and project stakeholders, and communicates status through regular updates and formal visit reporting.
The Supplier Quality Representative Support represents Bechtel as the supplier quality point of contact. Provide support for Inspection activities offshore, local and SQ administration and reportability.
Major Responsibilities:
AEX
- Receiving assignment packages, supplier/sub-supplier contacts, and execution details from the Project Expediter per PO and project requirements.
- Coordinating expediting activities with the Project Expediter, project personnel, suppliers, sub-suppliers, and support functions.
- Monitoring supplier activities, including procurement, planning, engineering, fabrication, assembly, testing, inspection readiness, surveillance, and shipment.
- Assessing fabrication progress through site visits and review sub-supplier procurement, materials, engineering data, and submittals.
- Analyzing schedules and progress reports to verify delivery commitments, identify risks, recommend corrective actions, and track resolution.
- Coordinating with Supplier Quality Representatives on inspection notices, surveillance requirements, and quality issues affecting schedule or fabrication.
- Providing updates on shipping status, tracking, labor, management changes, product changes, lead times, and other delivery-impacting factors.
- Submiting AEX-101 reports within 48 hours of visits and provide updates before and after visits as required.
- Following safety policies and perform additional duties assigned by the Area Supervisor or Expediting Operations Manager.
SQ
- Representing Bechtel as Supplier Quality Support.
- Serving as the focal point for Notices of Inspection (NOI) and management of BSQE Latam resources.
- Supporting administration and distribution of document packages to third-party inspectors.
- Conducting supplier evaluation and quality audits, as required.
- Managing project expense and cost-related information.
- Working directly with PSQS Project Supervisors.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Role requires a High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of industry experience or related manufacturing experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of procurement document requirements, supplier quality surveillance, inspection, verification, and release processes.
- Ability to interpret technical and quality requirements and communicate them clearly with supplier representatives and project stakeholders.
- Experience witnessing inspections, tests, examinations, and supplier operations in manufacturing or fabrication environments.
- Ability to review quality verification documentation and identify nonconforming conditions requiring disposition.
- Working knowledge of supplier audits, surveys, quality criteria evaluation, and coordination with project supplier quality personnel.
- Competency in reading and interpreting supplier fabrication schedules.
- Working knowledge of basic manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, purchase contracts, and project delivery requirements.
- Ability to review supplier progress information, identify schedule risks, and provide practical recommendations for recovery or mitigation.
- Basic computer skills in Excel, Word, Teams, and routine reporting tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, planning and organizational skills, and ability to work independently in supplier environments.
