Preschool Cook - Daycare Kitchen

Location: The Learning Experience - South Lyon Township, MI
Pay: $17-$18 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:00 PM

The Learning Experience - South Lyon Township is seeking a dependable and organized Preschool Cook to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for the children in our care.

This is a great opportunity for someone with food preparation or kitchen experience who is looking for a consistent weekday schedule. Enjoy working in a positive environment with no nights or weekends while making an important contribution to the health and well-being of young children.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve daily meals and snacks for children
Follow established menus, portion guidelines, and nutritional requirements
Follow food safety, sanitation, handling, and storage procedures
Maintain accurate information regarding food allergies and dietary restrictions
Coordinate with classroom teachers regarding allergies and meal needs
Monitor food inventory and communicate ordering needs to center leadership
Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen
Properly clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, and food preparation areas
Receive and properly store food and kitchen supplies
Follow Michigan childcare licensing, health, and food safety requirements

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required
At least 1 year of food preparation, cooking, restaurant, school kitchen, or related experience preferred
Food Handler Certification required or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to safely lift at least 25 pounds
Strong organization and time management skills
Reliable, positive, and comfortable working in a childcare environment
