Work Schedule
Initial Training Schedule:
Monday – Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Regular Work Schedule:
Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday | 11:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Regular Days Off:
Tuesday & Wednesday
Weekend Hours of Operation:
Saturday & Sunday | 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
This position requires flexibility and adaptability to changes in the work schedule. Greensboro Transit Agency services operate beyond traditional City office hours, employees may be required to work weekends and/or days when City offices are closed while transit services remain in operation. Candidates must be able to adapt to changing operational needs while maintaining excellent customer service.

The Greensboro Transit Agency (GTA) is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Customer Service Assistant to serve as a front-line representative for the agency. Every day, GTA helps residents get to work, school, medical appointments, shopping, community services, and other important destinations. As a Customer Service Assistant, you will play a direct role in helping people navigate the transit system and access the opportunities Greensboro has to offer.

About the Role
As a Customer Service Assistant, you will provide front-line customer service and administrative support for Greensboro Transit Agency operations. You will interact directly with members of the public, process transit fare payments, provide basic trip-planning assistance, answer customer questions, and help ensure customers receive accurate and timely information.
Key responsibilities include:
- Accepting and processing transit fare payments presented in person through the GTA UMO fare payment system.
- Providing face-to-face customer service and assistance to transit customers.
- Providing provisional trip-planning assistance and general guidance regarding GTA services.
- Answering and directing telephone calls received through the GTA main customer service line.
- Providing accurate and courteous information to customers regarding transit-related services.
- Preparing and mailing transit-related correspondence.
- Providing general transit-related guidance and assistance to Community Service Agency staff affiliated with GTA, as needed.
- Supporting the operation of the GTA photo ID office during advertised business hours.
- Accurately entering numeric and other information into applicable systems.
- Managing multiple customer service and administrative priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Exercising sound judgment, initiative, and decision-making when responding to customer needs.
- Communicating effectively with customers and staff, both orally and in writing.
- Supporting a positive and welcoming customer experience at GTA.

- Valid driver's license.
- Experience using Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
