Delivery Lead Fish Health Inspectorate - C1

This post will lead the delivery of the work of the Fish Health Inspectorate (FHI). The successful candidate will be an expert in Scottish and UK statute applying to aquaculture, with strong experience of aquaculture and fish health. They will use their excellent communication skills to deliver data and evidence to fellow scientists, policy makers and the aquaculture sector.

Responsibilities

• To manage, motivate and develop the management group of the FHI to ensure that all of the tasks required of staff are successfully and efficiently completed; achieved through discussions, meetings and clear concise instructions and guidance where appropriate.
• Provide the strategic leadership of the Fish Health Inspectorate, liaising with the Senior Delivery Lead for Aquaculture, Fish Health and Biosecurity.
• Communicate clearly and regularly with the FHI, ensuring that all group members are clear about how their objectives contribute to the delivery of MD and SG objectives and key policy drivers.
• To manage the implementation of regulations to ensure that the work of the FHI complies with the requirements of, as well as the spirit of SG policy and regulations. (eg: AFSA 2007, AAH(S)R 2009).
• Provide Scottish Government, the aquaculture industry and stakeholders advice with regard to disease and aquaculture issues.
• Prepare the budget for the FHI which realistically represents the fiscal requirement for the FHI, assisting in the reprofiling of that budget to properly reflect the current and future spending patterns of the FHI, whilst continuing to recognise the pressures which budgets are under within Scottish Government departments.
• The position will include people and delivery management.

This role is a permanent level transfer position.
