Job Description

ALTEN is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to support a major aerospace programme focused on aircraft structural panels and aerostructure components.

This is a senior, supplier-facing position requiring extensive aerospace quality experience. You will work closely with suppliers to ensure manufactured components meet demanding quality, engineering and production requirements.

You will take ownership of supplier quality issues, investigate non-conformances and drive corrective actions to improve supplier performance and ensure consistent product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage supplier quality activities relating to aircraft structural panels and components.
• Work directly with suppliers to resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
• Investigate non-conformances, defects and production deviations.
• Lead structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action activities.
• Review and manage NCRs and supplier quality documentation.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements in quality and manufacturing processes.
• Conduct supplier quality reviews, assessments and audits where required.
• Ensure suppliers meet relevant aerospace quality and engineering standards.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain and Procurement teams.
• Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and product quality activities.
• Drive continuous improvement and prevent recurring supplier quality issues.
• Provide senior-level technical guidance on complex supplier and manufacturing quality concerns.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• 10–15+ years of Quality Engineering experience.
• Mandatory Aerospace experience needed.
• Significant experience dealing directly with suppliers and supplier quality issues.
• Experience within aerostructures, aircraft structures, panels or aerospace component manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing and quality processes.
• Experience managing non-conformances, NCRs and corrective actions.
• Strong knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
• Experience driving supplier performance and quality improvements.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

• Aircraft panels or aerostructures experience.
• Knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 / FAI.
• Supplier auditing or supplier development experience.
• Knowledge of APQP / PPAP within aerospace.
