This is a varied role combining systems development with hands-on IT support in a dynamic, evolving company driven to make a real impact on humanity and the planet.

The role

Working closely with the wider Systems team, you will help ensure our IT and business systems are used to their full potential to maximise and drive efficiencies to ensure a continued high level of customer service. You will complete development and support tickets, improve existing systems and web applications, support colleagues with day-to-day technology issues and contribute to future developments using up-to-date technologies.

The responsibilities (there are more!)

  • Complete allocated systems, web development and IT support tickets, providing updates to relevant stakeholders as required.
  • Develop and improve business systems, web applications and integrations in line with agreed requirements and standards.
  • Contribute code to the repository in line with organisation branching guidelines, and submit, review and approve pull requests.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and enhance the experience of colleagues and customers.
  • Be the first point of contact internally for IT, software, Microsoft 365, phone support and customer access issues, resolving or escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Complete IT onboarding and offboarding processes, including setting up accounts, access, laptops, security settings and approved software.
  • Monitor the systems mailbox and application programming interface integrations, prioritising urgent issues and escalating these as relevant.

The person

You will enjoy solving problems, learning new technology and helping others. You will be organised, methodical and able to explain technical information clearly. You will be comfortable balancing development work with practical IT support, prioritising tasks and knowing when to escalate an issue.

You will bring relevant experience or a qualification in systems development, web development, IT or a related area, or be working towards this. You will also have experience providing practical IT support, setting up laptops, software and user accounts, and using or supporting Microsoft 365.

You will have exposure to HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Experience with PHP, SQL, application programming interfaces, version control, Jira, Docker, Power Automate or Power Apps would be an advantage, but relevant training will be provided.

To thrive in this role, you will have strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset and a genuine desire to work for a business for good. You will have a flexible, “muck in” approach, adapt to changing priorities and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.

We require all members of staff to work from the office every day for their first 3 months, and 3 days a week following this, therefore living within commuting distance to Skipton should be considered when applying.

If you have previous experience working in a similar development or IT support role then even better. A wicked sense of humour is a bonus too!
