About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Transaction Monitoring Senior Officer/Officer to join our transaction screening team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting due diligence on all transactions referred to the team, either systematically or manually. This is an office-based position reporting to the Account Operations Manager (AOM).

What you’ll do and what success looks like in this role:

  • Monitor, review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts generated by the Bank's monitoring systems for potential sanctions, money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF), fraud, or other financial crime risks.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of customer transactions and activities to identify unusual, suspicious, or potentially prohibited activities.
  • Review alerts and determine whether they can be reasonably discounted or require further escalation and investigation.
  • Contact customers, where necessary, to obtain supporting information and documentation, including transaction purposes, source of funds, source of wealth, beneficiary relationships, and other relevant details.
  • Perform customer due diligence reviews and assess transaction activities against known customer profiles and expected account behaviour.
  • Gather, evaluate, and document investigation findings and supporting evidence to ensure complete and accurate case records.
  • Escalate potentially suspicious cases to Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with correspondent banks, payment service providers, and internal stakeholders to obtain information required for investigations.
  • Support day-to-day activities related to sanctions screening and transaction monitoring systems, including maintenance of screening lists, filter logs, investigation records, and management information reporting.
  • Ensure all alerts and investigations are completed within established turnaround times and service level standards.
  • Participate in process improvement, automation initiatives, system enhancements, and other projects aimed at improving operational efficiency and risk management effectiveness.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, guidelines, and control documentation where required.

What is required and what we’re looking for:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Transaction Monitoring, AML Operations, Compliance, Payment Screening, or related banking operations.
  • Good understanding of AML/CFT requirements, sanctions screening, CDD, PEP, and suspicious transaction indicators.
  • Knowledge of payment channels including SWIFT, RTGS, and FPS.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and risk assessment skills.
  • Comfortable communicating with customers and internal stakeholders to support investigations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good command of English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
