Commercial Banking

Hang Seng’s Commercial Banking business provides customized one-stop financial solutions to our corporate customers, from prime small and medium-sized businesses to publicly listed companies.  
For customers conducting business locally or around the world, we offer a comprehensive range of services including corporate lending, trade and receivables finance, structured loan, cash management, investment, treasury services, insurance and e-Banking services.  As a reliable financial partner, we attend to the specific business needs of our customers and provide efficient tailor-made banking solutions through our relationship managers and dedicated specialists.
We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as VP Lead, CDD Approval, Business Banking.

Principal responsibilities

• Manage the onboarding controls for BBD portfolio-managed segment, balancing risk management, business need as well as operational efficiency, through participating in ongoing review and discussion of onboarding procedures, documentation, staying alert and escalating any control gaps identified, and providing expert advice.

• Liaise effectively with CDD case managers, relationship managers and other stakeholders to set clear standards, facilitate timely discussions, and exercise sound commercial judgment while maintaining robust risk controls and regulatory compliance.

• Provide final approval on high-risk cases and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements

• Lead the team to drive the implementation of new policy, procedure and risk assessment standards.

• Coach and mentor team members to enhance their Financial Crime Risk (FCR) and Customer Due Diligence knowledge, analytical capabilities, and decision-making skills.

Requirement

• University degree in Finance and Accounting, Finance, Economics, Banking, Business Management and related discipline

• Proven years of working experience in the banking industry with focus on commercial banking and good understanding of Know Your Customer (KYC) regulatory requirements on corporate customers. Portfolio management experience in commercial banking is an advantage

• Strong ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders, building effective networks both internally and externally to drive collaboration and achieve business outcomes while maintaining robust CDD controls.

• Skilled decision-maker with strong analytical judgmental, and problem-solving abilities, capable of making considered and timely decisions under pressure while maintaining high standards of output.

• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including experience in influencing senior stakeholders, negotiating effectively, and delivering compelling presentations.

• Great sense of ownership, proactive mindset, and strong servicing orientation to ensure effective CDD processes and deliver exceptional quality services for customers.

• Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.
