A Senior Project Engineer is sought to join the Water and Wastewater team in Dublin, Cork or Galway. This is a technically focused role supporting the delivery of high-profile water and wastewater projects for public and private sector clients in Ireland and further afield. You will work across multiple concurrent projects, preparing designs, technical reports and contract documents, and contributing to the delivery of robust, efficient and high-quality engineering solutions. Working as part of an integrated team, you will collaborate with engineers, planners and environmental professionals, while also supporting the technical development of the wider team. Projects vary in scale and complexity, requiring strong coordination, sound judgement and the ability to deliver to programme, budget and quality expectations.

Your Impact in This Position
In the short term, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of active projects and provide reliable technical input to the Water and Wastewater team. In the medium term, you will broaden your influence across project teams, strengthen your contribution to hydraulic modelling and design development, and support junior colleagues through review and guidance. Longer term, this role offers the opportunity to build recognised technical authority, contribute to best practice, and progress within a business that values professional development, innovation and meaningful career growth.

Core Capabilities

1. Water and Wastewater Engineering Expertise

  • Strong experience in the design and construction management of water and/or wastewater projects, including the preparation of contract documents, technical reports and design outputs.
  • Practical understanding of the full project lifecycle, with the ability to apply sound engineering judgement to complex infrastructure challenges.
  • A commitment to producing high-quality, compliant and buildable solutions that meet client and stakeholder requirements.

2. Hydraulic Modelling and Technical Analysis

  • Ability to take ownership of hydraulic model outputs and support the development of reliable, evidence-based engineering decisions.
  • Experience with relevant modelling and simulation tools such as EPANET, WinDes, InfoWorks or similar software.
  • Capability to analyse complex technical issues, present clear conclusions and justify design recommendations logically and confidently.

3. Project Delivery and Multi-Project Coordination

  • Proven ability to deliver tasks and projects on time, within budget and to the required quality standard.
  • Experience working across several projects concurrently, maintaining organisation, momentum and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and support effective delivery.

4. Collaborative Working and Client Engagement

  • Experience of working within employer-led and/or contractor-led design teams in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Confident communicator, able to engage clearly and professionally with clients, suppliers and internal colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, manage interfaces and contribute positively to team performance.

5. Leadership, Mentoring and Technical Development

  • Able to support junior engineers and graduates through review, knowledge sharing and practical guidance.
  • Demonstrates initiative, independence and a proactive approach to improving team capability and technical standards.
  • Interest in contributing to best practice, innovation and the continued development of the Water and Wastewater team.

Qualifications and Training
Essential: Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline. Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional body such as Engineers Ireland or the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Desirable: Postgraduate Level 9 Master’s qualification. Additional training or demonstrated competence in hydraulic modelling, water/wastewater design software, CAD, Civil 3D, QGIS or Arc.

Work Patterns and Locations
This role is based in Dublin, Cork or Galway, with hybrid working available as standard.
