As a member of the Pharmacy Reimbursement Analytics team, you will be responsible for managing and enhancing the data infrastructure that supports financial analytics, modelling, and strategic decision-making within the Optum Rx Network Pricing function. This role is primarily focused on data engineering and data management, including the maintenance of complex data pipelines, implementation of data quality controls, governance processes, and support for ongoing enhancements to the team's analytical datasets. Working closely with both Analytics and Enterprise Data Engineering teams, you will help ensure data solutions are scalable, automated, and aligned with broader organizational standards.

The team utilizes large and complex pharmacy claims, pricing, and contract datasets to evaluate reimbursement performance, quantify financial impacts, and generate insights that support contracting strategy, client financial management, and operational decision-making.

Beyond core data engineering responsibilities, this role offers the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of pharmacy reimbursement and the business drivers behind the analyses. Additional responsibilities may include supporting analytical modelling, investigating pricing and reimbursement trends, forecasting outcomes, identifying performance drivers, and helping translate complex data into actionable insights for business stakeholders.

What you will do:

• Manage, maintain, and enhance data pipelines that support pharmacy reimbursement analytics, network pricing, and financial reporting
• Develop and support analytical datasets used for modelling, performance measurement, and strategic decision-making
• Perform data validation, quality assurance, and governance activities to ensure the accuracy and reliability of reporting and analytics outputs
• Analyse pharmacy claims, pricing, and contract data to identify trends, reimbursement variances, and drivers of financial performance
• Support the design and maintenance of analytical models and reporting solutions used by Contracting, Underwriting, Finance, and Operations teams
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable data and reporting solutions
• Collaborate with enterprise data engineering teams to improve automation, efficiency, and alignment with organizational data standards
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives and the adoption of modern data tools, including AI-enabled analytics capabilities
• Develop a broader understanding of pharmacy reimbursement and network pricing to help translate data into actionable business insights

What you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• Proven experience using SQL, Databricks, Python, or similar technologies to work with large and complex datasets
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Proven experience building, maintaining, and validating analytical datasets, reporting solutions, or data pipelines
• Proven experience translating complex data into actionable insights and recommendations for business stakeholders
• Demonstrated solid attention to detail and commitment to data quality, governance, and control processes

Other useful skills and experience:

• Demonstrated solid understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and data engineering best practices
• Proven experience within healthcare, insurance, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), pharmaceutical, pricing, reimbursement, or financial analytics environments
• Proven experience supporting finance, contracting, underwriting, commercial strategy, or operational decision-making through data and analytics
• Proven experience working with cloud-based data platforms and modern analytics tools
• Demonstrated knowledge of process automation, reporting transformation, or AI-enabled analytics solutions

Soft Skills:

• Demonstrated solid analytical and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated solid communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple teams and organizational levels
• Proven ability to troubleshoot data issues and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement
• Demonstrated curiosity and interest in understanding business processes, financial performance, and strategic decision-making
• Demonstrated initiative and eagerness to develop deeper commercial and analytical expertise
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality
