Design & Engineering Lead (Electrical - Data Centres)

For our Data Centre Segment regional team we are looking for a Design & Engineering Lead (Electrical).

Reporting to the EMEA Director of Engineering - Data Centre Segment, this role is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of innovative solutions that support customers across the data centre market.

The position requires a strategic mindset, strong engineering leadership, and the ability to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and the successful delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions. The role works closely with customers, sales teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support complex projects and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

We are looking for a strong customer-facing professional with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of building credibility with customers, influencing technical decisions, and presenting solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging directly with customers, understanding their needs, and translating them into effective engineering solutions.

Location: Ireland (remote).

Travel: Up to 30% travel across EMEA, including customer visits and regular travel to our Dublin office.

Responsibilities:

• Act as Design Manager on data centre projects, leading the electrical design scope from concept, through detailed design, to construction support and closeout.
• Remain hands on in electrical design, providing technical leadership and ownership of critical design aspects for mission critical facilities.
• Lead and coordinate electrical engineers and SMEs as part of a multidisciplinary design team on both large and small projects.
• Manage design deliverables, resources, schedules, and quality across assigned projects.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentoring to the DC Design & Engineering team.
• Develop, implement, and uphold electrical design quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Review and approve electrical designs, calculations, reports, and specifications, undertaking and facilitating formal peer reviews.
• Act as a client facing technical lead, attending and contributing to client, contractor, and Eaton internal meetings.
• Lead project teams during value engineering, optioneering, and technical decision making stages.
• Participate in and lead project site visits to monitor, review, and resolve electrical installation and commissioning matters.
  Collaborate with project management, commercial, and construction teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications:

• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering.
• 5-8 years of experience in electrical design, ideally within power distribution, industrial, commercial, critical infrastructure, or related environments.
• Experience designing and delivering electrical engineering solutions, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, transformers, UPS systems, and standby generation.
• Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with value engineering and implementing innovative, cost-effective solutions.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is an advantage, but not essential.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong customer-facing experience, with the ability to build relationships, understand customer needs, and present technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to think strategically and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and support engineering processes.
