Period: 6 months (October 2026– March 2027), with possible extension
Location: Based in Phnom Penh, with travel as required

Background

WWF is one of the world’s leading environmental organizations, with a global network working across more than 100 countries. As part of WWF International’s Asia-Pacific region—which includes offices in Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, China, Mongolia, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands—WWF-Cambodia works closely with WWF offices across the region to advance shared conservation goals and address environmental challenges that extend across national borders.

WWF-Cambodia works closely with local communities, the Royal Government of Cambodia at national and sub-national levels, the private sector, NGOs, and other conservation partners to protect Cambodia’s biodiversity and natural resources. Our work is centred on three interdependent and landscape-based programmes: the Eastern Plains Landscape (EPL), protecting and restoring dry forests, recovering priority wildlife, and strengthening community stewardship and livelihoods; the Mekong Flooded Forest (MFF), safeguarding freshwater ecosystems and biodiversity while supporting sustainable community livelihoods; and the Climate Change & Footprint Programme (CC/FP), advancing renewable energy, nature-based solutions, and sustainable production and consumption to support a low-emission and nature-positive future.

I. Functions:

WWF-Cambodia is looking for recent graduates with a passion for conservation, energy, and climate change to join our communications and advocacy efforts. Based at the WWF-Cambodia office in Phnom Penh, the Communications and Media Intern will have opportunities to travel to our priority landscapes in Mondulkiri and Kratie provinces to gather information, capture field stories, and develop engaging communications and media content, including photos and videos, that showcase WWF-Cambodia’s conservation work and impact.

II. Duties and Responsibilities
The Communications & Multimedia Production Intern will primarily support the production of visual and digital content that showcases WWF-Cambodia’s conservation work, people, partnerships, and impact. Key responsibilities include:

• Photography and videography: Capture high-quality photos and video footage from field activities, community engagement, wildlife conservation work, events, workshops, interviews, and other WWF-Cambodia activities.
• Video production and editing: Support the production of short videos, reels, interviews, event highlights, and field stories, including footage selection, basic editing, subtitles, music, graphics, and formatting for different digital platforms.
• Photo production and editing: Select, edit, caption, and organize photographs for social media, websites, publications, campaigns, donor communications, and other communications products.
• Multimedia and digital content production: Develop engaging multimedia content for WWF-Cambodia’s communications and social media channels, including photo stories, short-form videos, reels, visual interviews, photo cards, graphics, and other digital assets showcasing wildlife, communities, conservation practitioners, women and youth, sustainable livelihoods, climate and energy solutions, conservation innovation, and programme achievements.
• Communications and event support: Provide photography, videography, documentation, and other communications support for campaigns, media activities, meetings, workshops, and organizational events.
• Perform other multimedia production and communications tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

III. Working Relationships:
Internal: Members of the Communications, Advocacy, Knowledge Management Department, as well as cross-cutting projects in both in Phnom Penh priority landscapes.
External: Local people at community protected areas, local authorities, and members of NGO partners, local enterprises and private sector.

IV. Requirements:
• Fresh graduate from or academic student with journalism, media and/or communications university
• Proven talent in storytelling, including news and feature writing, with passion for communicating about biodiversity and environment
• Knowledge of relevant software applications including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Power Point, Adobe software (Photoshop, Premiere, Indesign, Illustrator…)
• Active, fast learner and highly committed individual.
• Willingness to take initiative and challenges.
• Good interpersonal, communications skill and positive attitude (patient, reliable, hardworking).
