Position Description

Tesla Display Team is looking for a Senior Display Module Engineer to lead the development and qualification of displays for Tesla products. This individual will serve as the program DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) for display subsystem development, owning display module architecture, design decisions, and program execution from initial concept through mass production. The role requires independent technical leadership across Product Design, Hardware, Software, Global Supply Management, Supplier Industrialization, Reliability, Tesla factory, and the display suppliers.

What You'll Do

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of display modules for assigned vehicle programs as the program DRI, making key technical decisions and driving program milestones to completion
  • Manage display suppliers as the primary technical contact, leading display module design, development, and issue resolution with minimal supervision
  • Define the display module architecture and lead system integration strategy for new programs
  • Define and own the display ERS (Engineering Requirements Specification) in collaboration with functional leads for design, process, and reliability
  • Lead supplier Design Reviews, define review criteria, track action items, and drive timely closure
  • Define build specifications and version control strategy for engineering builds and production ramp
  • Lead the cross-functional display development team including ME, EE, FW, OE, EPM, Supplier Industrialization, Supply Chain, and Reliability engineers
  • Review and assess characterization, measurement, and test results from functional leads and display suppliers, making go/no-go decisions on program readiness
  • Drive root cause analysis for display-related issues across functional leads and suppliers, and own corrective action plans to closure
  • Ensure display deliverables are met for engineering builds and initial production ramp
  • Represent the display subsystem in vehicle-level technical forums (Vehicle Integration, Thermal, EMC) and resolve system-level integration issues
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior display engineers on module development best practices
  • Address issues from initial ramp and field returns related to displays

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, Materials Science, or related field. Master's degree or PhD preferred.
  • 10+ years of display development and product delivery experience, with demonstrated track record of leading programs from concept to mass production
  • Deep understanding of display technologies (LCD, OLED, LED, HUD), display module construction, frontend and backend manufacturing processes, reliability, and quality
  • Proven experience managing external display suppliers as a technical lead, including leading Design Reviews and driving supplier development
  • Strong technical judgment with the ability to independently assess test data, failure analysis results, and make program-level decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment across engineering disciplines
  • Experience with automotive or consumer electronics product development lifecycle
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical findings and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools (Python, Matlab, or equivalent) is a plus
