QA/QC Engineer – Civil

The Civil QA/QC Engineer shall be responsible for implementing and monitoring quality assurance and quality control requirements for all civil construction works related to the project, including wind turbine foundations, hardstands, access roads, drainage works, culverts, earthworks, concrete works, reinstatement works, and associated site infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, implement, and maintain the Civil QA/QC Plan, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, method statement review records, and quality inspection formats.
• Review and verify civil construction drawings, specifications, approved method statements, material approvals, and project quality requirements prior to execution.
• Monitor concrete quality, including batching, delivery, slump testing, temperature checks, cube/cylinder sampling, curing, compressive strength results, and concrete pour records.
• Verify soil and roadwork quality through compaction testing, field density testing, grading checks, material source approvals, moisture content checks, and layer thickness verification.
• Ensure that construction activities do not obstruct natural drainage patterns and that drainage management measures are implemented in accordance with approved designs and Environmental Management Plan (EMP) requirements. Project documents specifically identify drainage, surface runoff, waterlogging, and localized flooding as issues requiring management during construction.
• Raise and follow up on Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Site Observation Reports (SORs), corrective action requests, and preventive actions.
• Coordinate with the Civil Engineer, Site Engineers, Contractors, Consultants, Laboratories, and the Employer’s Representative for inspections, testing, approvals, and quality close-out activities.
• Maintain all civil QA/QC documentation and records.
• Ensure that only approved construction materials are used on site and that rejected or non-compliant materials are removed or properly quarantined.
• Monitor compliance with the Site Environmental Management Plan, Construction Method Statements, and relevant safety and environmental requirements during civil works.
• Support final handover activities by compiling civil quality dossiers, test certificates, inspection records, as-built documentation, and completion certificates.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in civil construction QA/QC.

• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction field.

• Sound knowledge of:

  • QA/QC Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, checklists, and quality records.
  • Concrete technology, reinforcement inspection, formwork inspection, anchor bolt/template inspection, and foundation construction.
  • Earthworks, roadworks, compaction, field density testing, and material testing.
  • Drainage construction, culvert installation, erosion control, and surface water management.
  • NCR management, corrective actions, preventive actions, and quality close-out procedures.
  • Relevant standards such as SLS, BS, ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, ICTAD/CIDA specifications, and project-specific specifications.

Preferred Certifications

• ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification.
• QA/QC certification in civil construction.
• Certification in concrete technology or material testing.
