A construction project engineer helps manage the technical, administrative, and daily operational details of a project to ensure it stays on schedule, within budget, and up to safety standards. They act as a communication bridge with the project manager and construction manager.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

  • Managing Submittals and RFIs: Review and process Requests for Information (RFIs) and material submittals to make sure the field teams have correct, approved data.
  • Quality and Compliance: Review completed work and delivered materials to verify they match architectural plans and building codes.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Assist with tracking project milestones, sequencing trade work, and organizing daily site logistics.
  • Cost Tracking: Help monitor budgets, process change orders, and review subcontractor billing or pay applications.
  • Problem Solving: Identify on-site discrepancies or hurdles quickly and coordinate with designers or superintendents to fix them.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working on construction projects (semiconductor and/or pharmaceutical facility experience preferred)
  • Ability to understand and interpret drawings, specifications, contract documents, and construction methods
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent written communication and documentation abilities
  • Basic knowledge of construction accounting, estimating, cost control, scheduling, and purchasing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
