The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigeria nationals for the positions below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.
Position: Head, Project Coordination Unit
Contract: 3-years renewable contract
Location: Ibadan
Closing Date: 14 September 2026
DUTIES:
- Provide strategic leadership and management of the Project Coordination Unit, ensuring alignment with FMS goals and reorganization objectives.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all facility-related projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and monitoring project budgets and timelines.
- Ensure effective communication and liaison between project teams, internal clients, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout project execution.
- Implement project management best practices, including documentation, quality control measures, and change management processes.
- Oversee project cost control and financial performance by working closely with the Project Accountant and Quantity Surveyor; approve budget forecasts and monitor expenditures.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation plans to ensure project deliverables meet safety, quality, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 41001, organizational standards).
- Coach and develop project supervisors, quantity surveyor, project accountant, and other team members; assign responsibilities and evaluate performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in project coordination processes, tools, and systems, including digitalization (e.g., deployment of an Integrated Facilities Management System).
- Represent FMS in senior management meetings and coordinate with corporate functions (Finance, Procurement, P&C, etc.) on project planning and resource needs.
- Generate high-level project status and KPI reports for senior management and stakeholders. Advise senior leadership on project risks, mitigation, and progress toward objectives.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
QUALIFICATION
Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor's degree (B.Sc.), or Advanced Diploma in Project Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Project Management will be an added advantage. Possession of a recognized professional project management certification (e.g., PMP, COREN) is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should have 8 to 10 years of progressive experience managing multidisciplinary facilities or infrastructure projects, including leadership and supervisory responsibilities, with a proven track record in project planning, scheduling, and execution within construction or facilities management environments. Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder teams and working effectively with contractors, vendors, consultants, and cross-functional departments is highly desirable.
